Neighborhood Turkey Trot On Thanksgiving


 


The 11th Annual Laurelhurst Turkey Trot Festival, open to all ages, takes place on Thanksgiving Day. The participants were scheduled to meet at 8:45 a.m. in the northeast corner of Laurelhurst Park near the flyover. No pre-registration required.

The information says:
Join your family, friends and neighbors on a very easy and casual 5km fun tour/walk, meandering around Laurelhurst on the route map provided at the beginning. last year More than 400 runners and walkers
Bring your family, dog, or pet turkey and get ready to burn some calories and have fun before your Thanksgiving stuffing.
It has become a living tradition and is becoming more and more popular every year. Last year over 300 runners and walkers participated in the Laurelhurst Turkey Trot! 
We collect non-perishable food donations for college tuition or cash/check donations.
Anyone who arrives within 45 minutes will receive a ticket donated by Capital Markets for the donut raffle.

Kathy, who is from Laurelhurst, said the idea for Turkey Trap came to her when she was living in Glen Ellyn, a small town near Chicago, before moving back to the neighborhood for a few years. The city hosts local events including the annual Turkey.

And eight years ago, Kate's husband, Brian, suggested a fun ride, which they filmed after an event at Glen Ellyn. Hundreds of neighbors came for the picnic and filled their SUVs with food donations for the table.
