Metro Bus ReponseTo Neighbor Concerns About Transients Exiting Bus And Wandering Around Neighborhood

After posting information about subway buses at the children's stop on NE 45th Street, a neighbor commented:

I live opposite the bus station. The subway recently painted a red lane in front of my house so I can turn around when the buses are not running. They usually come aboard at least once a week in front of my house. Lately it's disappointing that these buses have been empty and they apparently use the car park to stop for relaxing hikes and descents.

The unfortunate and disturbing thing about this deal is that this is the end of it, and now we are bringing so many needy and troubled people into our area that they have to leave. I personally saw many people filming the suburbs. (Boulevard) And very late at night. We need to get to the point where this problem is solved.

The hospital security is very responsive, but they only take them out of the room and then walk around.

In terms of the number of flights, stops don't count. The last of them should be uphill, where the bus performs the most important functions for the hospital.

The Laurelhurst blog reached out to Metro, who responded:

Thank you for sharing your neighbor's problems with us. We have shared your feedback and concerns about dispatchers so that our operational staff can further monitor this route and location, as well as the operation of buses entering this intersection.

To provide background information, Metro has set up stations for routes 31 and 32 in agreement with the Children's Hospital based on the route's itinerary, seat available, passenger demand, and passengers connecting to hospital toilets.

True, passengers who got off at the last stop on the way can sit down again on the way back. The Metro continues to face the problem of passengers traveling in transit with no fixed destination. Cyclists riding in public places and cyclists on the street are responsible for their behavior. In case of accidents involving neighbors, local emergency services and social service providers may be notified.

Transportation Security Officer services are geographically expanded to cover multiple routes and transit hubs with 24/7 coverage. Its publication is regularly monitored and modified based on customer and employee reports.

Following your request, the staff became aware of this new issue with cyclists leaving this site and are monitoring the situation.

Subway riders can contact the Transportation Control Center if they need help with driver behavior, and monitors can be sent if needed. If nearby cyclists require medical attention or there is an emergency, it is best handled if the Seattle Police or Fire Department moves to this level. When a problem occurs at a Metro facility, local police or the Metro Transportation Police/King County Sheriff's Office may be dispatched to respond .

To report a shipping incident, please contact customer service by phone or online.

Last fall, Metro Bus upgraded bus service in Laurelhurst and throughout the city.

Laurelhurst switched from one new bus line to two lanes, Routes 31 and 32 , between 5:45 pm and 11:30 am , stopping at the Northeast Hospital turnoff at 45th Street and not passing through the neighborhood.

Metro said Routes 31 and 32 were changed to improve east-west traffic along NE 45th Street and provide a connection between the U District station and Seattle Children's Hospital.

However, when two buses run the same route around the same time, neighbors say there are often 3-4 buses that go to NE 45th Street, usually one bus stops at 45th northeast street.
